Karen Simpson joined the Federal Government over 19 years ago because she has a great passion for public service. Her education and degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, BA in Political Science and Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, New York University, Master of Public Administration further ignited her passion. After graduating from Wagner, Ms. Simpson moved to Washington D.C. to take a position with the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. She has worked for other agencies including the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in the learning and development policy office. Currently, Ms. Simpson is a Program Manager for U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of the Chief Information Office, AgLearn office (USDA learning management system). She leads many e-learning initiatives USDA’s learning and development programs. These initiatives include an effort to re-create a USDA new and experienced supervisors training program for USDA Mission Areas, Agencies and Staff Offices and worked with IT Modernization Centers of Excellence teams to identify training needs and highlight them on AgLearn. She is also leading the efforts to redesign the 360 and technical competency assessments in AgLearn.
